Journal writing…(By Prisha)

Today we have started our journal entry. We have reflected on our journey so far and recorded the same in our journals. This journal consists of all the aspects of our journey, which we can use to reflect such as the essential agreements we have framed, our wonderings, the daily logs can help us trace our progress, etc

Reflectively thinking… (By Arnav.S)

We had our first mentor meeting where we collaboratively have made essential agreements to ensure smooth functioning of our exhibition journey. While posing our questions, our mentor guided us to frame open-ended questions that target terrestrial, aquatic, aerial and all other animals and not restrict our thinking. We even have presented our perspective by sharing the choices we make that lead to animal exploitation through Frayer’s model such as making jewellery, hunting, experimenting on animals, entertainment and many more.

Independent researchers at work…(By Triesha)

We reflected on our choices that help plant conservation through word splash. Most members in our group choose to reuse and recycle papers, use cloth bags to avoid land pollution and plant saplings and water them regularly. Our mentor, Sheetal ma’am guided us how to go about our exhibition, i.e. ask open-ended questions which will give us more knowledge and understanding, keep the goal in mind while working for the exhibition, collect real life examples by reading newspapers to make better connections.

Exercising our voting rights :) :) :) (By Triesha)

We began with our mentor selection process. All the PYP teacher from PYP 1 to 4 shared their strengths that can help in our exhibition. We got to observe exemplary communication skills that we must have during exhibition day. We exercised our voting rights in school today to vote for the teachers after the introduction was over once they left. The results of our voting is:
·         Ms. Sheetal K. for PLANT CONSERVATION
·         Ms. Komal J. for PLANT EXTINCTION
·         Ms. Komal A. for HUMAN RIGHTS
·         Ms. Reshma K. for HUMAN DISCRIMINATION
·         Ms. Hiral G. for ANIMAL CONSERVATION

·         Ms. Apeksha G. for ANIMAL EXPLOITATION

Animal conservation

Mentor meeting 1

We discussed with our mentor our theme our central idea and what we have done till now, then with the mentor we discussed what all we can do to conserve animals like rally’s, posters, bird feeders and websites. We even discussed our burning questions and the target to answer these questions in the exhibition.

Mentor mixing and the kick start(By Yash)

It was our first day with mentor. Our social skills were used to express our thoughts to the mentor. We asked our burning questions, we made essential agreements that obviously have to be followed. We got the idea of what we have to work on with the help of Reshma ma’am, to make it clear we made our blueprint on what should be done. We discovered true definition of discrimination. This was the day our expert group started making charts and the real research on discrimination started.

Ready…Set…Go (By Namya)

This being the first day of our exhibition’s main journey, we were very excited for it. Our co-ordinator, miss Pushpalata Ajit motivated and encouraged us before we started our exhibition class. We made the essential agreements, using the essential elements of PYP, for our exhibition’s smooth functioning. We also reflected on our prior knowledge of ‘Choices’ and presented it through the pre-assessment we collaboratively decided i.e. word splash/word association. For anything to be successful planning is essential and today we got to know about the IB planner, which is filled by our teachers but this time for the exhibition, we are going to fill the same.

Collaborating and Communicating with MYP6 (By Triesha)

As reflecting and collaborating is an essential part of PYP, we had a special session arranged with the previous exhibition batch, i.e. students of Grade 6. During the session, they reflected on their exhibition and we even asked them questions as we were curious to know about their experience.  They gave us many valuable inputs and suggestions to make our exhibition a success. Some suggestions that we got are: to maintain the team-work , be responsible and complete all our  work on time , be confident all time, divide work, understand the content and make your own script. They also shared their problems and guided us on what we can do to avoid the mistakes they committed from being repeated. They emphasized the key to make the exhibition a successful one and a celebratory one is to be ‘co-operative’ with everyone. They have promised us to help if we need any help and have wished us good luck for the same.
